Huge XD School is a 10 week program with a renewed purpose to increase the participation of underrepresented identities in the design industry. In Summer 2021, 6 students from around the country participated in a paid, 10-week virtual training program in Experience Design hosted by Huge Oakland. Participants got end-to-end experience, working with and responding to a real client brief. I had the opportunity to re-start this program for the Summer of 2021, designing the website, interviewing participants, creating an experience design curriculum, and fullfilling the role as a coach to the students. Coaching included daily 1-1 time, office hours, and continued collaboration on the client brief.
Students, teachers, and coaches alike all learned so much from one another. I can honestly say, this experience was one of the most rewarding experiences I have had in my career.
